Name Amalaki (Amla)
INCI Name Emblica Officinalis

Properties

Amalaki (Amla) acts as a natural skin brightener, reducing dark spots and pigmentation. It is loaded with antioxidants, helping revive aging cells and improving skin texture. It also boosts collagen production, keeping your skin soft, firm, and youthful. Vitamins C and E in amla protect the skin and enhance its appearance. Incorporating amla into your skincare routine can gently exfoliate the skin, promoting a healthy complexion.

What is Amalaki?

Emblica officinalis (Indian gooseberry or amalaki) is a deciduous tree in the Phyllanthaceae family, native to India and Southeast Asia. Its fruit is a rich source of bioactive compounds, including:

  • Ascorbic acid (vitamin C, 1–2% by weight)
  • Polyphenols (e.g., gallic acid, ellagic acid)
  • Flavonoids (e.g., quercetin)
  • Tannins (e.g., emblicanin A and B)
  • Polysaccharides

Amla contains one of the highest concentrations of natural vitamin C, a water-soluble antioxidant. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and neutralizes free radicals that can damage skin cells and DNA. It also acts as a cofactor for proline and lysine hydroxylase, enzymes essential for collagen biosynthesis, promoting skin firmness and elasticity.

What does Amalaki do to your skin?

Amalaki (Amla) boosts collagen, fades dark spots, reduces acne, and protects skin from aging and damage. It leaves your skin brighter, firmer, and clearer.
