What is Rosemary?

Rosemary is a very special kind of herb. It's a small, woody plant, almost like a tiny, bushy Christmas tree, with thin, needle-like leaves. If you rub its leaves, you'll immediately notice a very strong, fresh, piney, and slightly woody smell. It's quite unique! It loves sunny places, originally growing wild around the Mediterranean Sea (places like Italy, Greece, Spain).

Extraction process pulls out all the tiny, invisible scent molecules and other beneficial stuff from the plant, creating a very concentrated liquid. That liquid is Rosemary Essential Oil. It's so concentrated, you can't just put it straight on your skin or drink it. It needs to be mixed with other things, like a milder "carrier oil" (like coconut oil or almond oil).

Just like different types of grapes make different wines, different growing conditions or specific varieties of rosemary can produce essential oils with slightly different main chemical components. These are called chemotypes.
1. Rosemary ct. Cineole: (Pronounced "sin-ee-ole"). This type is best for respiratory issues (like colds or stuffy noses).
2. Rosemary ct. Camphor: Stronger, more medicinal camphor smell. Often used for muscle aches and pains.
3. Rosemary ct. Verbenone: (Pronounced "ver-bee-none"). This one is gentler, with a slightly more herbaceous and less camphorous scent. It's often preferred for skincare.

Rosemary Oil is Stimulant, Analgesic, Anti-inflammatory, Antimicrobial/Antiseptic and Astringent.

What does Rosemary do to your skin?

Rosemary oil actively benefits your skin by helping to control excess oil and purify pores with its astringent and antiseptic properties. It also invigorates the complexion by improving circulation and offers antioxidant protection, contributing to clearer, healthier, and more radiant skin.
